same 2021 period.<\/i><\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A study by CVN \u2013 Virtual Business Center revealed that between January and June of 2022, three Latin American countries: Peru, Ecuador and Colombia imported 181,509 kilograms of seeds associated within 15 product categories: tomato, carrot, onion, pepper, broccoli, watermelon, cucumber, melon, cauliflower, lettuce, pumpkin squash, spinach, cabbage, string beans and eggplant, for an amount that cost $26,684,069 dollars, CIF value.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Carrot, spinach, tomato and onion seeds are among the most imported seeds during the first half of 2022.<\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The data from the data specialist firm shows that from the 15 types of products already analyzed, <\/span><b>carrot seeds lead the ranking by weight with a participation of 43.6%,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that is to say a little more than 79 thousand kilograms, while <\/span><b>the tomato seeds were the most representative by merchandise value with a 23.9% of the total<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, equivalent to USD$6.4 million CIF Colombia:<\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its study, CVN includes relevant data on the most important brands in the seed market for the 15 product included categories, highlighting that 5 of them represent 46.1% of the market according to the merchandise\u2019s weight as shown below:<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Takiseed: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">totaled 27.9 thousand kilograms, equivalent to a 15.4% stake. Carrot, spinach, onion, cauliflower and cabbage seeds belong mainly to this brand.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Foods: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has an 11.5% stake with 20.8 thousand kilograms corresponding exclusively to carrot seeds.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vilmorin: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the third brand with 17.4 thousand kilograms, that is, 9.6% of total imports; in this case, carrot, cauliflower, pepper, lettuce and tomato seeds make up the type of product associated with the brand.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Seminis: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It ranks fourth with 5.4% of imports represented by 9.7 thousand kilograms, which corresponds mainly to string beans, onions, carrots, pepper and lettuce.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Suba Seeds: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">closes the ranking with 8 thousand kilograms and a participation of 4.4%, an amount related mainly to string beans, carrots, spinach, tomato and cabbage.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, the 5 brands that contributed with the highest CIF value to the total imported by this market in the South American neighboring countries, include the following:<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Seminis: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it leads with 15.3% of the market, valued at USD$4 million CIF, and in first instance associated with pepper seeds, tomato, carrot, watermelon and lettuce.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sakata: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it has a 10.6 stake with USD$2.8 million, mainly related to broccoli, squash, pepper, watermelon and tomato.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Takii Sed: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is in third place with 9.8% of the imported value, that is, USD$2.6 million CIF, which corresponds mainly to carrot, tomato, spinach, cauliflower and cabbage seeds.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Bejo Zadenit: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">added USD$1.7 million CIF and has 6.2% of imports, which corresponds mostly to carrots, cauliflower, onion, tomato and cucumber.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>BHN:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> closes the ranking with 6.1% of the market represented by merchandise valued at USD$1.6 million that corresponds solely to tomato seeds.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Which country imports the largest amount of seeds in Latin America?<\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the official figures of the three territories, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Peru is the largest importer, followed by Ecuador and Colombia, which alternates in second and third place according to the weight and the total value of imports<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as is shown in the following graphs:<\/span><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvn.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/med.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34155 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cvn.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/med.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cvn.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/med.png 663w, https:\/\/www.cvn.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/med-300x95.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cvn.com.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/med-600x190.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 663px) 100vw, 663px\" \/><\/a><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Per\u00fa:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A greater number of kilograms of carrot (38.1%), spinach (23.5%), onion (12.6%), lettuce (9.0%) and cauliflower (4.9%) seeds entered their territory);
