From January to September 2017, fruit exports were registered for a value of 863.3 million dollars. FAO figures place Colombia in third place in Latin America in terms of the largest number of hectares dedicated to fruit, thus projecting itself as one of the most important agricultural pantries in the world. In addition, ProColombia points out that more than 95 different types of crops are grown in the country and that exports of related products have doubled in recent years.

The volume of sales abroad for the January-September period went from 1,526 tons in 2016 to 1,693 the following year, which represents a growth of 11%. The articulated effort between the unions and the National Government through the implementation of different lines of credit has contributed to this growth.
