In 2002, the World Health Organization (WHO) made a recommendation regarding the consumption of sugars in the human diet, this recommendation focused on the fact that sugar intake should represent less than 10% of the intake total daily calories; however, for the year 2015, it made an additional recommendation asking to reduce the intake of free sugars to less than 5% of the total caloric intake.
